Both Hill House locations are within walking distance from two MBTA subway stops - Arlington (Green Line) and Charles/MGH (Red Line).
Driving Directions
The Firehouse (127 Mt. Vernon St.)
From Mass Pike (I-90):
- Exit #18 Brighton/Cambridge (left lane exit and $1.00 toll)
- Bear right after tollbooth following signs to Cambridge/Somerville
- Take 1st right onto Storrow Drive (around the Marriott)
- Follow Storrow Drive to Government Ctr./Kendall Sq. exit
- Exit and make a right onto Charles Street
- Continue on Charles Street for four blocks and make a right at the 7-11 onto Mt. Vernon Street
- Hill House is the firehouse (#127)
From the South:
- From I-95 follow signs to the junction with 93 N (Boston)
- Use exit #26 Storrow Drive/Back Bay
- Stay to the left and go through short tunnel
- Stay in the left lane and exit at the Government Ctr./Kendall Sq. exit
- At the bottom of the exit proceed through a flashing red traffic light
- Bear slightly right onto Charles Street
- Make a right at 7-11onto Mt. Vernon Street
- Hill House is the firehouse (#127)
From the North:
- Follow Route 93 into the city
- Take exit #26 Storrow Drive/Back Bay
- Stay to the left and go through short tunnel
- Stay in the left lane and exit at the Government Ctr./Kendall Sq. exit
- At the bottom of the exit proceed through a flashing red traffic light
- Bear slightly right onto Charles Street
- Make a right at 7-11onto Mt. Vernon Street

74 Joy Street
From Mass Pike (I-90):

Parking
There are three options for parking near the Firehouse:
- Charles Street Garage (617-954-2098) located at 144 Charles Street. Hourly rates apply.
- Boston Common Garage (617-523-8432) located underneath the park (entrance is on Charles Street, between Boston Garden and Boston Common). Hourly rates apply.
- Metered parking along Charles Street, Beacon Street and Cambridge Street. The cost is $.25 per 15 minutes for up to two hours. Although spots are often available, it can take time to fine one. Please allow yourself a minimum of 15 extra minutes if you plan to park this way.
